Central Italy witnessed in medieval time the growth of a number of castles, abbeys, and small inhabitated villages. That territory offers the opportunity to find medieval villages and areas of historical interest, like Tolfa and its castle.
Tolfa's ancient castle, which is located 80 kn North from Rome, had a defensive function.

...Europe old takes on a different meaning than here. It's wonderful the look back in history.
I've been watching the series called Spartacus for the second time in a while :-) Ancient cities are of my special interest and you are lucky in this regard:-) Happy weekend.
Although most of it remains in ruins, the buildings of the ancient Tolfa Castle still stand out in their grandeur.
Its location on a hillside also adds to its beauty.
Have a good weekend, Giorgio.
To Tom, SzgnBls, and Himawan Sant: it is great to see you are interested in old cities. I am interested in your posts and articles too, as you sometimes publish something about ancient buildings, which are important landmarks in your countries.
Have a beautiful weekend, my friends! ☀️
