Two historic gateways

There are two historic gateways in the middle of the older side of the town (I am talking about Civitavecchia, 70 km North from Rome). They are located East and West of the medieval part of the town, and  they weren't destroyed during the WWII. Until the first half of the eighteenth century pirate raids from Saracens were an ongoing threat. That's the main raison why those historic gateways were built so narrow.

The small pink house in the picture below is for sale. If I were the owner, I would decide to install photovoltaic panels on the small rooftop of the house.

Each stone can tell us something.

I noticed that if it were to rain my hair wouldn't get wet :-)

Finally, easy to see how people are glad to get back to normal life.

Have a nice weekend!

To Nicole, Veronica, Viví, Tom and SzgnBls: glad you enjoyed reading my post.
🇮🇹 If you were to visit my town, I would be honored to show you all those unusual places located in the medieval center of the urban area ... not to mention of local food and beaches 😎

Foto molto belle. Ho l'impressione di essere stato in tutti quei posti (tranne che nell'ultimo).

I like the historic gate way as I like old/classic architecture, Giorgio. Hmm, the pink flat as we would call such a building here is quite quaint, both the colour and the style. I think Rome has many buildings with historical architecture and it will be a great place to visit. GOod to see that the situation is returning to normal with gyms opened. Enjoy the summer
