There wasn't race for me this weekend but I ran 14 km with the running group. After we had done the first 5 km warm up and slow run, we began the workout, 8 x 4.30 minutes fast with 1 minute recovery. During the workout the average pace was 4.30 min/km. But we ran a strange route this morning. At the beginning we ran through the old part of the town and along the pedestrian area of the town. Then we ran through the industrial area because on Sunday there aren't trucks. Consequently, there isn't polluted air. It was a sunny Sunday and a great training session! If we ran the same route we wouldn't see the same average pace.
It's been said that runners don't like runninng the same route twice. We sometimes run the same route two minutes faster or two minutes slower than last time. I think that the comparison made between running the same distance hasn't validity. We can't recreate the exact circumstances of the previous training or on race day. We can't have the same weather and the same amount of sleep or food. We can't have the same people around us.
I show you a photo ot the pedestrian area which is situated in the middle of the town. I took this photo two months ago from the helicopter and but isn't a sharp image.

Neat photo! I usually don't mind running the same route more than once, but I do find I get tired of it after a while and then I know it's time to change.
How cool that you were taking photos from a helicopter. I've been running pretty much on the same 3 or 4 routes. But, with the long distances of the marathon training coming up in the next few months, we'll be looking for new, longer and fun routes.
Thanks for your encouragement Giorgio :) As for my training program, what I will do is make a section in my sidebar that gives my training plan for the week. My first week of marathon training starts June 20th, so that's when I'll start including my training program on my blog...hope that helps.
A very good fast job. I ran alone from home to the Corsaro. Everything ok for Rome, we will get the bibs before the race. See you soon.
Interesting about running the same routes. I do that often and find the time of day I run also makes a difference in the time. Great photo!
Oh yes, the world cup is here and the excitement is everywhere. I need to take and post some pics. Good luck to Italy!
I definitely don't mind running the same route over and over again. It really doesn't worry me. The most important part of the run is the running
I actually like the same route so its familiar. However, if I feel stagnant, then I will change the route.
Hi Giorgio,
I have five to six running routes that I change up. Some are hilly and more challenging than others. I do think that I need to spice up my runs with a new running route:)
I love the very cool picture...I love it when you post pictures:)
Have a wonderful day Giorgio!
Did you take the photo while working?
To Christina and Julie:
I'm glad you like photos which I took while I was travelling by elicopter for job :) I sometimes take photos while I'm working. I travel by helicopter for job about once a month. If you liked these images I'd post them.
Have a nice training!
I enjoy change...although I run the same most of the time..but I prefer to change!
