Rainy weekend

On a rainy Saturday I went for a 30 minutes walk in spite of the fine drops.

I enjoyed taking pictures of this "wet" morning, and after the drizzle had stopped a rainbow appeared over to town.

I hope you have a sunny weekend!

Saint Joseph's Day

On this sunny Sunday we, Westerners, celebrate Saint Joseph's Day. Always held on March 19th, the feast honors Joseph, husband to the virgin Mary.

According to the tradition, the cakes in the picture above are typical of Saint Joseph's Day. Custard cake filling is made with egges, milk, vanilla, lemon and sugar.

Meanwhile, the same seagull that I mentioned in my previous post, is still on  cars' rooftops. This time the seagull hasn't chosen my car :-)

Have a nice Saint Joseph's feast!

Cloudy week

On this cloudy Monday fishermen's boats are all stalled because of rough sea. It seems the new week will be still cloudy. As a result, many Italian fishermen are working on the ground. They are repairing their fishing nets at the fishing port.

After I had taken a few pictures while I was walking close to the fishing port, I noticed that a seagull was on the roof of my car. I could see that the seagull was well fed, although it was still looking for food :-)  ... those creatures sometimes are close to the fishing port, as they have the opportuny to eat fishes that can't be delivered to the market.

With regards to fish dishes, I have heard that eating fish could help people who had lost interest in activities. According to some studies, people who eat fish regularly are much less likely to become depressed.

Cloudy Wednesday

The 2nd week of March is cloudy. According to metereologits the coming days will be rainy. Today in the early morning, on this cloudy Wednesday, I walked 45 minutes at a fast pace, although the weather conditions. While I was walking I noticed that the statue of the American sailor and the girl (picture above on the left) has nothing to do with Italy ... I don't agree with the Mayor's choice.

The sky was also cloudy yesterday at night. This image is the view out of my window at night.

The owner of this XXVII century old building (picture below), which is located in the historical center of Civitavecchia, offers reneved air-conditionig rooms with private bathrooms, free WiFi and Kitchenette with fridge. It's perfect for both long stays or quick visits.

Tourists can discover this architectural gem, which was built on the ruins of a castle.

Have a nice Wednesday!

Laundry drying

If you were too visit older neighborhoods in the Italy's cities, you would probably see drying laundry and clothes on the building facade in your country. I hope you wouldn't get bored of  laundry drying outside windows. This is typical in Central and South Italy, mainly in the buildings located in the older neighborhoods.

Obviously, you will never see laundry drying outside windows of historical buildings like the image  below :-) :-) :-) LOL ... the historical building in the picture below is located in Rome close to Vatican Square. I took it last week.

Still in Italy, the traditional breakfast here relies heavily on a mix of coffee, milk, and baked cakes. It's also small in size and sweet in taste.

Have a nice Sunday!

Sunny Wednesday

Just three pictures taken this morning, on a sunny Winter Wednesday.

It seems many people like to enjoy their boats in Winter.

And last but not least, yesterday I had a delicious pink and yellow pizza: mozzarella cheese, dried ham and corn. A well balanced pizza in terms of carbs and proteins. And, most importantly, that pizza was made with unrefined flour ... valuable vitamins and minerals had not been removed.

Have a nice Wednesday!

Foggy morning

This  new week begins with a foggy morning. A combination of coolest weather and the rise of humidity makes a misterious world around us.

A foggy atmosphere is one of the best natural scenery. It creates some picture-worthy moments.

The fog gives a picturesque atmosphere also along the pedestrian area of the town.

Have a nice week!

1st week of the year in Naples

A few pictures taken in Naples (South Italy) from 30th December to 6th January.

A coffee shop's owner painted a big skull on the wall :-) :-) :-)

The picture below shows an old building located in the historical centre of Naples, which belonged to a noble Spanish family.

Many old Naples' neighbohood are rich in history and tradition. They are place of art and culture, full of faith and hope.

Tomorrow, January 6th, is Epiphany, also called Three Kings Day. It's a Christian holy day that celebrates the revelation of the baby Jesus to the world.
