I'm trying to do a long run once a week and this afternoon I ran 19 kilometres. The time taken was 1 hour and 42 mins.
The photo posted shows the starting line of the 6 km race which I ran last Sunday. You can see my hidden head only :) I'm the fourth from right.
The weather is hot here in Central Italy although the Summer is going to an end and I sometimes don't drink enough water before and after running. Of course, I try to hydrate before a workout but I think I should also drink before sitting down to eat.
At first, drinking before meals helps to hydrate my body. Then, It helps me to lose weight: I simply eat less because my stomach feels full :) It's true! I've tried it and it works. Moreover, we hydrate our running body :) How much water should we drink before meals? A glass or two of water, I think. Or a cup of tea. Do you drink before a meal?

You are so right about hydrating. My problem is that I often... forget. It is hot here too but since my runs take place in the morning I don't sweat as much and that saves me.
I will have to try drinking before eating. I could lose some weight for sure.
The whole thing with rehydration is very true, its a question of spreading it out over a day. I notice then that i need significantly less for my runs later in the day.
I have not been good about hydrating. Thanks for the reminder.
This time no photos of the race. If the race directors doesn't change behavior the next time not even.... the race!

Today it is our turn but it's already hot.
At the moment I don't drink water before a meal but I do know it helps keeping your appetite under control. Reading this reminds me it's a good idea to start it again.
My hub is driving home from Imola at the moment and he told me it was hot: 38 degrees and knowing him he probably didn't drink enough water :)

I carry a water bottle around with me everywhere and drink all through the day. A dietitian told me that we should be drinking at least 2 liters a day and that's what I aim for.
nice hair :-) I take lemon water with me on my run and drink apple water (apfelschorle) all day long. I also drink fresh juice for my breakfast (I have a juicer). Not to be gross, but I follow the suggestion that your pee should look like water.. so that is what I aim for in the amount I drink. Good job on the long runs! I will be doing my longest on Saturday.
Thanks for the reminder! I usually don't drink enough, I think. I do try to drink a mug of cold water while I am heating up boiling water for my green tea in the morning...
